This gritty Queen West hangout for artists is known for its hot pepper pot soup and generous platter red snapper mixed with okra and tomatoes. Other specialties include pork loin chops with jerk sauce with callaloo. An unusual dessert is the candied plantain in butterscotch sauce but for a refreshing treat try the coconut cheesecake.

The service is chatty but inattentive. Dinner is affordable at only $20 per person including the tip.
