Located in the genteel neighborhood of Mount Pleasant, Phebe's Zee Grill is considered to be one of the finest of Toronto seafood restaurants and oyster Bars. This restaurant, which is run by chef-owner Jac Eckhardt has been thriving since 1981. The menu changes daily as he picks fresh, fish, lobster, crab, oysters, mussels and shrimp daily from the markets and most entrees cost $26 and upwards. The menu also offers beef and lamb dishes and an extensive wine list.
The oyster bar features six varieties including Beau Soleil from P.E.I. and Kumamoto from Japan. A house specialty is the whole shrimp wrapped in a spring roll. Signature dishes include scallops with squash gnocchi in a champagne cream sauce and rack of lamb in port sauce. Flourless chocolate cake is for dessert. The wine list features several quality selections by the glass.
The service is prompt and friendly and you can expect to pay about $100 per person plus tip.
